Jurnal Didaktik Matematika is a periodical academic journal that is published by Master Program of Mathematics Education, Syiah Kuala University Banda Aceh incorporating with Himpunan Matematika Indonesia (Indonesian Mathematical Society/IndoMs) and Research Institute of Syiah Kuala University as well as being supported by the board members who are experts in the area. This Journal is published twice a year (April and September). This journal was established on December 27, 2013 and published its first edition in April 2014. This Journal publishes new and original research in the field of mathematics, mathematics learning, technology, mathematics, and realistic mathematics education.

Abstract

Abstract. Learning with ICT can produce new works that an indigenous, has a high value, and more meaningful. The purpose of this research was to improve student learning outcomes IX grade SMP Negeri 5 Sabang on the topic of data display through ICT-based learning. The subjects were students of class IX of the number of students 18 people. This research was a classroom action research (PTK), which consists of two cycles with the phases of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Based on the results of research and data analysis can be concluded that students completenessthe goal individually in which the first cycle as many 9% and the second cycle as many 15%. The most dominant teachers’activity in the second cycle was to guide students in conducting discussions, while most dominant students’ activity was a discussion about the problems submitted by teachers. In this case, the ability of teachers to manage learning using ICT has increased from the category of good to be very good.Keywords: ICT, student learning outcomes, teacher activity, student activities

Abstract

Abstract. This paper describes a framework for a mathematics lesson design called ELPSA. It is comprised of five learning components, namely: Experience, Language, Pictorial, Symbolic and Applications. This framework provides assistance for students to make sense of mathematics ideas in classrooms, through sequenced activities that draw of students’ personal experiences, encourage multiple forms of representation and apply mathematics knowledge to new experiences. This paper explains the theory that underpins the framework, and highlights the manner in which the respective components promote mathematics thinking. Abstract

This research aimed to produce learning trajectory in learning algorithm to find equivalent fractions using Lego in fourth grade. This study was associated with thematic integrative learning curriculum 2013 based PMRI. The method used was design research of type validation study that aimed to prove the theories of learning. Design research that consists of three stages; preliminary design, teaching experiments, and retrospective analysis were chosen to achieve the research objectives by designed Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT). The research was conducted on 21 students of class IV SDN 16 Lembak. This study aimed to investigate how Lego can help students to learning equivalent fraction. Students learning activities that were conducted including: 1) determine the fractions using lego, 2) determine the equivalent fraction of fractions formed from Lego, and 3) connect the concept of equivalent fraction to the standard algorithm to find equivalent fractions. The results of this study indicate that a series of activities can help students in learning equivalent fraction.

Abstract

Abstract. Mathematics is a lesson that is taught from primary education to higher education. However, the implementation of learning, especially SMP were encountered obstacles, one of which is the lack of representative learning device. This study was a response to the need for a valid learning tool, especially book teacher and student book. This research development, namely the development of learning tools based on open-ended approach to improve the ability to think creatively mathematical school students with materials Statistics. Software development models used in this study was a modification of the steps Plomp model, namely (1) preliminary investigation phase (phase preliminary investigation), (2) design phase (phase design), (3) realization/construction phase (phase realization/construction), and (4) test, evaluation, and revision phase (phase test, evaluation and revision. The device consists of learning learning implementation plan (RPP), teacher guide, student books, student worksheet and the test of learning outcomes. Methode of data collection was done through the validation sheet, test, and questionnaire of students’ responses. Results of the validation sheet was obtained that the RPP had an average value of 4.05 with valid criteria, teacher guide had an average value of 3.94 with valid criteria, students’ books had an average value of 3.9 with valid criteria, student worksheet had an average value of 3.83 with valid criteria, and test results of learning had an average value of 4.15 with very valid criteria. Students' response to the five components was as much as 94.3%.Keywords: Software development learning, model plomp, open-ended approach, mathematical creative thinking ability

Abstract

Abstract. This class room action research aimed to improve students' mathematical creativity in mathematical problem solving, and described the learning process of students of SMP Negeri 5 Terbuka. The learning method used module learning cycle models. This research was conducted in two cycles included the steps of planning, implementation of action, observation, and reflection. Students' mathematical creativity in solving mathematical problems measured was fluency, flexibility, elaboration, and originality. The results showed that students' mathematical creativity in mathematical problem solving increased. The aspects of the students' mathematical creativity in mathematical problem solving that most increased in this study were elaboration.Keywords: mathematical creativity, solving mathematical problems, module learning cycle models

Abstract

Geometry is one of the subjects studied at the high school level. Learning geometry includes the position, distance, and angle of the elements of a space. This study was a qualitative study aimed to look at the students' mastery of geometry. Subjects in this study were students in high schools in Banda Aceh were categorized in high school, medium, and low. Categories of student mastery of the geometry were analyzed based on mistakes made by students in answering the questions. Based on the data analysis it can be concluded that (i) high school students in Banda Aceh had not mastered geometry, (ii) there were mistakes made by students in answering the question of geometry. Mistakes made by students include misconceptions, operation, and analysis, (iii) the student mistakes caused by (1) not mastered the concepts, (2) inability to perform the operation, and (3) not able to perform the analysis in accordance with the expected completion problem. Important information obtained through this study was that the mistakes made by students in solving geometry had a close connection with the student's mastery of geometry.

Abstract

This study aimed to generate learning trajectories in learning number patterns by using lego in grade IX SMP. This study was conducted in SMP N 1 Tanjung Raja. The method of this study was design research consisted of three phases, i.e. preliminary, design experiment (pilot experiment and teaching experiment) and retrospective analysis. In this study, a series of instruction was designed and developed based on conjecture of learning processes and PMRI approach. In this paper discussed was teaching experiment phase. Results of this research was learning trajectory that includes a series of learning process that were activity constructs patterns by using Lego generate sequence to determine rules and the next number of sequence, activity outlines pattern to determine the n-th pattern of sequence, until activity number patterns to determine the amount of n tribe/number. Based on the activities undertaken in this study could help students to understand number patterns.

Abstract

Abstract. Communication skills and mathematical reasoning is one of the objectives of the study of mathematics. Communication is defined as the ability to write, read, listen, examine, interpret, and evaluate ideas, symbols, terms, and mathematical information. Mathematical reasoning is a habit when the brain is well developed and consistent will facilitate the mathematical communicate both written and oral. Therefore, the necessary relevant learning models to optimize, improve, and develop communication and mathematical reasoning abilities of students. One of the cooperative learning models is Teams Games Tournament (TGT). The aim of this study to determine: (1) Is the increase in communication and mathematical reasoning abilities that students acquire learning with cooperative learning model TGT better than students who received conventional learning approaches, and (2) What is the attitude of students towards learning mathematics learning gain with cooperative learning model TGT. This research was experimental research design with pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study was all students of class XI MAN Darussalam Aceh Besar, which consists of five classes. While the sample was composed of two classes of experimental classes and control classes were taken by random sampling. The instrument used to obtain research data communications test and mathematical reasoning ability, and attitude scale questionnaire. The statistical test used for the data mengalisis increase communication skills and mathematical reasoning was two lanes ANOVA test, while the attitude scale questionnaire was calculated based on a percentage. The results showed that the overall improvement of communication and mathematical reasoning abilities that students acquire learning with cooperative learning model Teams Games Tournament better than students who received study with conventional approaches. From the results of student questionnaire concluded that in general the students had the positive attitude towards learning mathematics using cooperative learning model TGT.Key Word: Learning TGT, Communication, Reasoning

Abstract

Abstract: The decimal number is a subject matter that is difficult to understand by elementary school student. Fractions and decimals is seen by the student as two different things. Students are difficult to understand that 1/4 is equal to 0.25 for the different way of writing. This condition causes the teachers need to design learning trajectory that can facilitate students to understand the decimals material. The purpose of this study was to develop a Hypothetical Learning Trajectory (HLT) that can help students understand the concept of decimal numbers. This study involves a teacher and 36 students of fourth grade of elementary school in Banda Aceh. The method used was a design research method that was done by using two cycles they are pilot experiments and teaching experiments. Each of them consists of three stages: (i) preparing for the experiment, (ii) the teaching experiment, and (iii) the retrospective analysis. Research data collection using two kinds of instruments that were the main instrument who was the researcher's herself and supporting instruments consisting of student activity sheets, observation sheets, interview, and field notes. The results showed HLT that was developed can help students understand the concept of a decimal number.Keywords: Hypothetical learning trajectory, conceptual understanding, decimal numbers

Abstract

Abstract. The main objective of this research was to determine the extent of the effective implementation of lesson study with inquiry learning methods application, that purposed to improve learning motivation and activity groups in the preparation of instruments and quality analysis instruments. The research conducted a study in ‘Evaluasi Hasil Belajar Matematika’ subject at mathematics education department of STKIP Hamzanwadi Selong. This study used a model of action research through lesson study. The subject of this study was the fifth semester of preservice students consisting of 28 students. Data collected used observation and field notes. Data processing techniques used qualitative descriptive technique. Lesson study research results as a model of collaborative coaching educator and collegative can be used as a model for teaching faculty guidance to students. Implementation of lesson study consisted of four cycles and three stages namely plan, do and see. At each cycle of increased activity and student motivation to learn both individually and in groups. Students gain knowledge and experience of the planning and implementation of innovative learning.Keywords: Lesson study, methods of inquiry learning, learning motivation, activities group
